Women’s Volleyball Takes Down Hartford

DURHAM, N.H.. – The Merrimack College women's volleyball team beat Hartford University on Saturday afternoon. Julz Carlat led the team in kills with 16. Sydney Green was the other Warrior in double digit kills with 13.  Mia Ardila led the team with 38 assists in the victory. There were five Merrimack players with over five digs on the afternoon.

Rapid Recap

  • The first seven points of the first set were split almost evenly, the Hawks earning one more then the Warriors. Hartford then went on a four-point run to go up by five. A service error by the Hawks gave Merrimack a four-point deficit to make up. Hartford then went on a four-point run, going up by eight. The Warriors battled back cutting it to four. A ball handing error by Hartford then made the lead just three points. The Warriors went on a three-point run to make the score 24-22. Hartford then scored the last point they needed to win the set. 
  • Merrimack jumped out to a three-point lead, highlighted by an ace from Ardila. The Hawks came back cutting the lead to one. Four points in a row for the Warriors gave them a 7-2 advantage. A kill by Hannah Webber gave Merrimack 10 points in the set. A kill by Avery Brown started a five point run from the Warriors, putting them up by six. Hartford came back cutting the lead to just one. The set became tied at 20. Merrimack then went on two separate two-point runs. An attacking error from Hartford gave the Warriors the win.
  • The first 18 points of set three were basically evenly split. Merrimack found themselves on top 10-8. A four-point run capped off by a kill from Cate Wright gave the Warriors a six-point advantage. A kill from Ardila gave the Warriors a commanding lead heading into the final points of the set. The Hawks did their best to come back, bit Merrimack came out on top by eight. 
  • Set four came and the Warriors had an early lead 9-7. The Hawks the came back to tie the set at nine. A kill by Green gave Merrimack a there-point advantage, 14-11. A kill by Carlat put the Warriors up by five. Webber had a kill to give Merrimack 22 points. Carlat finished the set with a kill, giving the Warriors their second win of the weekend. 

Top Performers // Notes

  • Merrimack had one more ace compared to Hartford, 6-5. 
  • This is the first time the Warriors have won two straight matches in the Division I era.

Merrimack heads home to take on the College of Holy Cross. The match is set for 7 p.m.
