BEVERLEY, MASS - Coach Losano, a Endicott alumni, traveled with her team to Endicott to face her Alma mater. In a very exciting season opener, the Warriors swept the Gulls in an 9-0 victory. Nikala Tuffanelli paired with sophomore Dzhastina Mikhnova were the last of the doubles matches to finish, giving spectators a battle to watch at they came out victorious at 8-6. At 2 doubles, Allyson Nerf and Raya Johnson (junior) secured the second point for the Warriors. In a jarring doubles battle, Nerf and Johnson pulled out an 8-6 victory. Our lethal duo of freshmen, Cait McLoughlin and Giulia Martins, cruised through the competition in an 8-1 victory. All new additions Johnson, McLoughlin, and Martins secured their very first doubles win as Warriors. The Warriors swept doubles, paving a 3-0 lead going into singles.
The pattern kept going with win after win in singles play.First off the court was junior and new addition to the team, Raya Johnson with a straight set victory (6-1, 6-2)Up 4-0, sophomore Dzhastina Mikhnova capitalized on the lead by closing out her singles match 6-1, 6-1. Now up 5-0, freshmen Martins and McLoughlin battled to add another 2 points to the Warriors score, securing points in both 3rd and 4th singles positions. Congratulations to our freshman on their first wins! Last but not least on the court was N. Tuffanelli and L. Eslava (senior) who put the Warriors on the board with a final score of 9-0. Both Tuffanelli and Eslava split sets and took their matches to a tie break! Almost simultaneously, Tuffanelli won 10-4, and Eslava won 10-3. The team is now practicing to compete in The Dartmouth Regional this weekend in New Hampshire, where over 25 colleges and universities will compete for one overall victorious title.
