Women's Hockey Tripped Up by Providence

North Andover MA.

The Merrimack Warriors Women's Ice Hockey team scored twice in the first 40 minutes but fell to the Providence College Friars by a score of 5-2 on Saturday Afternoon.

Merrimack (7-17-1, 4-13-1 HEA): 2, Providence (17-8-1, 12-6-1): 5

Merrimack got on the board first with just over two minutes to go in the first period when Katie Kaufman scored her tenth goal of the season to give the Warriors the lead.
 
Merrimack would extend their advantage on the powerplay, as Sophie McKinley scored her second goal in as many nights.
 
Providence would score four times in eight minutes to take the lead and added an empty netter to finish the contest at 5-2.

• Katie Kaufman and Sophie McKinley scored for the Warriors in the loss.
• Sophie McKinley also assisted on the Kaufman goal, her third point of the weekend.
• Hayley Chang, Payten Evans and Madison Oelkers all had one assist each
• Teghan Inglis blocked four shots.
• Emma Gorski made 38 saves in the loss.
• With her goal, Katie Kaufman reached ten in a season for the second straight season, also in her 100^th game as a Warrior.
