Women's Hockey Falls Short To Northeastern

North Andover MA.

The Merrimack Warriors Women's Ice Hockey team hung tough against the Northeastern Huskies but ultimately fell short of the upset by a final score of 3-1 at Lawler Rink on Saturday.

Merrimack (7-18-1, 4-14-1 HEA): 1, Northeastern (22-2-1, 18-2-1): 3

Merrimack fell behind early as the Huskies scored twice in the first five minutes of the game.

Sophie Melsness would nab her first collegiate goal a few minutes later on a net mouth scramble to cut the lead in half.

In the second period, the Warriors defense and goaltending by Calli Hogarth would stand tall as she made 13 saves in the second.

In the third, Hogarth would continue to dazzle in net as she made 15 saves in the final frame, keeping the deficit at one but Warriors final chances with the net empty failed to tie the score and Northeastern would add an empty net goal with under two minutes to play.
