Boston, M.A.—The Merrimack Warriors Men's hockey team score in every period as they breezed to a win their Hockey East conference opener against the Northeastern Huskies by a score of 4-1 on Saturday night at the Matthews Arena.
The Basics
Merrimack (3-2-0, 1-0-0): 4, Northeastern Huskies (2-2-0, 0-2-0): 1
A fast paced first period saw the Warriors jump out in front as
Frank Djurasevic's stretch found its way onto
Matt Copponi's blade and found
Zach Bookman on the back door pass and he put it in the open side to take the lead.
In the second period would be
Liam Dennison took the puck off of a face off win and his long shot from the blue line would go top shelf on the Northeastern goaltender to double the Warriors lead.
In the third Warriors would get another, as
Michael Citara made it two goals in two games after the Warriors forced a turnover in the offensive zone and he snuck it through to make the score 3-0 with just over 12 minutes to go.
Northeastern would find a consolation goal with 9:19 to play, but
Michael Citara would put the contest to bed with his second of the game as he scored an empty netter with just over a minute and half to play.
