Rapid Recap

It was a defensive battle in New Jersey. Neither team could find the bottom of the net. The Warriors led after one frame just eleven to nine behind 5 first quarter points from Diamond Christian. The second quarter was also tight but the Warriors gave up their lead and trailed by two going into the half.

The third quarter saw the Highlanders take their largest lead of the game going up by five points at 30-25. The Warriors would then go on a six point burst to take back their lead they had back in the first half behind a Paloma Garcia jumper. Once again the game was tied up this time at 32 heading into the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter was back and forth. Each team held leads at one point but it came down to the final possession. NJIT would have it and could let the clock tick down to claim the final shot of the game as it was tied at 44. They let it go all the way down and thanks to some stellar defense from Merrimack it was a contested three and the clock would hit triple zero's. A five minute overtime period would have to be the difference for these two teams.

In overtime only 5 total points were scored. It was a three pointer from NJIT that would be the major difference as the Warriors could not get anything to fall. They had one chance to tie it up at the end of OT but a Diamond Christian three point attempt did not fall and the Warriors would lose their second straight, 48-45.
