North Andover, MASS.-- The Merrimack Warriors Women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw through 110 minutes of play but were defeated on penalty kicks by the Wagner Seahawks by a 3-1 score and were eliminated from the Northeast Conference Women's Soccer Playoffs.
Merrimack controlled play in the first half but it was scoreless after 45 minutes played, with their best chance of the foot of
Emily McCabe beating the Wagner goaltender but the shot was ultimately denied by the post.
In the second half the Warriors would eventually strike first as
Isabella Keogh scored with just over 13 minutes to play in the game.
Wagner would score on a free kick with 32 seconds to play in regular time to tie the game at one a piece.
The 20 minutes of extra time were played to a deadlock, so the game entered penalty kicks, where the Seahawks would score on three attempts with the Warriors only scoring one to bring the curtain down on the 2023 campaign.
