North Andover, MA—The Merrimack College Women's Ice Hockey team scored first but were defeated in overtime by a score of 2-1 on Friday afternoon at Lawler Rink.
Merrimack scored first in first period as a net front scramble lead to
Sarah Hirst finding the back of the Terrier net for her first collegiate goal.
Neither team was able to score in the second period as
Calli Hogarth made 10 saves in the frame.
In the third, a late powerplay and with the net empty, Boston University would tie the game with under a minute to go in regulation. The Terriers would eventually take the win in overtime.
Notes and Numbers
Merrimack head on the road tomorrow to face the Boston University Terriers in the second of their two contests this weekend. Puck drop is set for 4 PM.
