WASHINGTON, D.C. – In the final seconds of the game
Devon Savage had a chance to tie the game at 69. He could not convert as the Merrimack College men's basketball team lost to Georgetown University on Wednesday night.
Jordan Derkack led the way for the Warriors with a 22-point performance. He also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Adam "Budd" Clark was the only other Merrimack player in double figures with 11 points.

- Derkack started the game on a six-point run by himself to give Merrimack an early lead. The Hoyas then went on a nine-point run to go up by three. Derkack would score again to stop the run. He would add another jumper to give the Warriors a one-point lead. Georgetown then added 12 straight points to go up by 11. Samba Diallo and Savage would both score to get the lead down to seven. Both teams would battle back and forth. With two and a half minutes to play Merrimack had the deficit cut to four. After a run towards the end of the half, the Hoyas would head into halftime up by seven.
- Two minutes into the second half the Warriors found themselves down by nine points. Merrimack would then go on their longest run of the game, scoring 15 straight points to flip the game and go up by six. Both teams would battle trading buckets. A three from Savage with 10 minutes to go in the second half would put the Warriors up by eight. Three minutes later Georgetown would tie the game up at 53. For the rest of the game the lead would not get any larger then one possession. With two minutes to play, the Hoyas found themselves up by four. With a minute left in the second half, Jacob O'Connell found the bottom of the net with a three to put the Warriors down one. After a Georgetown score to go up three, Derkack knocked down two free throws to get it back down to one. Two more free throws from the Hoyas would make the lead three again with 15 seconds. Some more free throw shooting from both teams made it a two-point game with four seconds left. Derkack missed a free throw. Merrimack had three opportunities to score and tie the game, but they could not convert.
Notes and Numbers
- The Warriors had a season-high 14 steals. Four different players had three steals each.
- Diallo had nine points and six rebounds in the loss.

Merrimack will finally head home to take on UMass Lowell on Saturday night in Lawler Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
