Fairfield, CT—The Merrimack College Men's Soccer team's season came to a close this afternoon in the Northeast Conference Soccer Tournament quarterfinal as they tied Sacred Heart with one goal apiece after 110 minutes of play but were defeated 5-4 on penalties.
The Warriors fell behind early as the Pioneers scored seven minutes into the game, but it would be Laurie Goodard who would put Merrimack back on level terms as he scored his tenth goal of the season with 15 minutes to go in the first half.
In the second half and overtime, both teams would combine for 19 shots attempted but neither team could the go ahead strike.
On penalty kicks, the Pioneers scored all five attempts while Merrimack scored four to end their season.
