DeCesare Notches 1,000 Career Points, Becomes 24th in Program History

NORTH ANDOVER, MASS – Merrimack College Women's Basketball graduate student guard, Jayme DeCesare, became the 24th 1,000 point scorer in the program's history in a tight loss against Dartmouth College in Lawler Arena on Sunday.

Jayme DeCesare has undoubtedly been one of the best and most impactful players in Merrimack women's basketball history. Hitting the 1,000 career point mark is just one of many accomplishments during her time as a Warrior. With one minute remaining in the first quarter DeCesare came down and drilled a deep three over the outstretched arms of her defender to get to the 1,000 point mark. The crowd erupted as she went on to score in the next two possessions. She finished the game with 16 points to lead all scorers in the loss.

DeCesare recently moved into 6th place all-time in assists in the program's history. Up to this point she has appeared in 112 games starting 110 of them. She became the first Warrior to reach the 1,000 point mark in the Division one era. With more than half the season remaining DeCesare has a real shot at entering the top ten in scoring and top five in assists in Merrimack Women's Basketball history. Her name is firmly engrained in the program's history and there is more to come for the Johnston, Rhode Island native.
