Burlington, V.T.—The Merrimack Warriors Women's hockey team battled, but were defeated by the University of Vermont Catamounts by a score of 4-2 on Friday afternoon in the Warriors final game of the calendar year.
The Basics
Merrimack (6-10-1, 3-8-1): 2, Vermont (8-8-1, 7-6-0): 4
Vermont scored almost immediately, firing in a goal 30 seconds into the contest.
Merrimack would tie the game six minutes later as
Allison Reeb would bag a powerplay goal on a rebound.
In the second period, Vermont would score early again, taking the 2-1 lead under two minutes in.
Merrimack would find the answer late in the period as Merrimack took advantage of a two on one chance and
Maria Lindberg scored on the
Alex Ferguson pass to make the score 2-2.
Vermont would score one more time on the powerplay late in the period.
In the third period, Vermont would score their fourth goal of the game to close out the game.
