North Andover, MA.-- The Merrimack Warriors Women's Ice Hockey team battled hard but fell short in their first of three games against the University of Maine Black Bears on Friday night.

Merrimack (7-23-1, 4-19-1 HEA): 0, Maine (14-15-2, 11-11-2): 1


Maine struck with the only goal of the evening on the powerplay at 15:21 of the first period.

In the second period held the shot advantage and Calli Hogarth made seven saves but the Warriors were unable to find the tying goal.

In the third, Merrimack was unable to capitalize on their powerplay midway through the frame and came close to finding the equalizer late but the game finished 1-0.
