Women's Lacrosse Knocked Off by New Hampshire

Durham, NH --The Merrimack Women's Lacrosse team was defeated by the University of New Hampshire Wildcats by a score of 16-4 on Wednesday afternoon.

UNH scored the lone goal in the first quarter.

UNH would score four times in the second quarter before Sophia Scearbo would score the first goal for the Warriors. The Wildcats would score again to make the score 6-1 after the first half

UNH would score five more times in the third quarter but another goal from Scearbo with an assist from Olivia Valdes gave the Warriors another point. UNH would score another goal to end the third quarter 12-2.

In the fourth, Georgia Parker scored a goal three minutes in. The Wildcats scored two minutes after the Merrimack goal to bring the lead 13-3. Taylor Jones scored a goal for the Warriors after the UNH goal. The Wildcats scored three more goals to finish the fourth quarter 16-4.

Notes and Numbers:
  • Hayley Kowalcyzk had 10 saves in the game. 
  • Sophie Scearbo led the team in shots with four.
  • Olivia Valdes had the lone assist for the Warriors.
  • Merrimack forced 10 turnovers in the contest.

Merrimack heads on the road to face Marist College on Sunday evening on February 26. Game time is set for 4pm.
