NORTH EASTON, MASS. – The Merrimack College women's basketball won its sixth Northeast Conference (NEC) game against Stonehill College on Thursday night. Amaya Staton led the team in points with 14 in the win. Kaylee Thomas, Jayme DeCesare, and Marissa Hamilton both had 13 points in the win.

Hamilton scored her first point of the game with a little over a minute to play in the first to put the Warriors up by two. The Skyhawks followed up with a three-pointer but two layups from Staton got Merrimack the lead. The Warriors continued to score with Thomas getting a layup with an and-one while Hamilton and Staton scored a few more points to keep the lead. Alana Fursman hit a three-point jumper with an assist from DeCesare with just four seconds left in the first quarter. Going into the second quarter, Hamilton continued to score with four points added to the lead. Lydia Melaschenko drilled a three-pointer from the line with time minutes left to go. The Warriors were up by 10 points until the Skyhawks inched closer with two three pointers of their own. DeCesare hit a three-pointer with 30 seconds left in the second quarter to finish the first half 39-33.

The Skyhawks looked to get back into the game in the start of the third quarter by tying the lead 39-39. Diamond Christian scored her first point of the game followed by a Fursman three-pointer. Jada Powell scored four points in the third quarter to continue to give the Warriors the lead. Christian hit a three pointer with seven seconds left in the third quarter with the score 59-55. Stonehill tied the game up in the fourth quarter 60-60 and scored a point to take the lead. Thomas got the Warriors back in the lead with a three-pointer along with a layup from Staton. Thomas again hit a three-pointer along with two free throws from DeCesare to bring the Warriors 72-67. With the final seconds winding down, DeCesare made a layup at the buzzer to give the Warriors the win 78-71.
