Hubbard, Lanpher and Lemay All Homer in Softball Loss to Fairleigh Dickinson

Teaneck, N.J.- The Merrimack Softball team fell short in their series decider against Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday afternoon.

FDU took the lead in the first inning but the Warriors assumed the lead an inning later as Sam Russalesi scored Hannah Scarano on an RBI double. The Warriors scored two more in the second when Ellen Hubbard brought in Russalesi and Bailey McDermott.
 
The Knights would get a run back in the third but Merrimack responded in a big way as Caity Lemay homered to center field in the fourth inning. Courtney Lanpher followed up with a two run shot in the same inning, scoring Russalesi, and extending the Warriors lead to four.

FDU scored five runs in the bottom half of the fourth and added another in the fifth. The Warriors refused to give in as Ellen Hubbard played long ball in the sixth for the Warriors third home run of the afternoon.

The Knights were able to score one more run in the sixth inning and the Warriors were unable to finish the comeback as the game came to a close.
 
 
Notes and Numbers:

• Caity Lemay, Courtney Lanpher and Ellen Hubbard all hit home runs in the loss.
• Hubbard, Lanpher and Sydney Samuel also had two hits each in the loss.
• Lemay, Hannah Scarano, and Sam Russalesi had one hit each.
