Women's Soccer Takes Home Opener Against Lowell, Powered by Cormier's Brace

North Andover Mass.-   Ella Cormier scored both goals, including one in the final two minutes of the game to seal a 2-1 victory for the Merrimack College Warriors Women's Soccer team in front of a loud home crowd at Martone-Mejail Field.

  • After a scoreless first 45 minutes, Lowell got on the board first with a goal just under ten minutes into the second half.
  • Merrimack found themselves level ten minutes later when Isabella Keogh picked out Ella Cormier with a pass between two defenders and Cormier finished with a strike into the top left corner.
  • Merrimack found the winner with just over two minutes to play as Emily McCabe found Cormier again, who put the shot in the top right corner of the net to put the Warriors in front for good.
 
Notes and Numbers:
  • Isabella Keogh and Emily McCabe notched their first assists as Warriors.
  • Lily Morgan made five saves, including a stunning toe save on a one on one chance in the second half.
  • Ella Cormier led the team in shot on goal with three, and scored twice.
 
UP NEXT: The Warriors head on the road to face the Vermont Catamounts on Sunday, August 20th. Kickoff is set for 2 PM.
