Women's Volleyball Falls to Lehigh in Storrs

STORRS, CONN.- The Merrimack College Women's Volleyball Team lost their first of three games on the weekend as a part of the UConn Invite.

Rapid Recap
Merrimack stuck close with a very talented Lehigh squad as both teams traded points back and forth early on in the first set before the Mountain Hawks took control. Julz Carlat would secure the first two points of the game for her team with back to back kills. However, Lehigh pulled away midway through the first set with a 6 point run. The Mountain Hawks would end up taking it 25-13. 

After falling in set 1, the Warriors came out firing on all cylinders with a 4 point run to start the second set capitalizing on errors from their opponent. Lehigh quickly tied it up with a 4 point run of their own followed up with a 5 point run shortly after. Once again Merrimack fell in set 2, 25-13. 

After losing the second set, Merrimack looked to pick up a set 3 win. The action was non stop on both sides in set number 3. A highly competitive one that saw a flury of kills from both Cate Wright and Julz Carlat. The final set came down to the wire with Lehigh squeaking out a 25-20 win. The Warriors would fall to 1-3 on the year with 2 more games on the schedule for the weekend.

Mia Ardila had 21 assists in the game.
Julz Carlat led all Warriors with 8 kills.

Their next contest will be the second of three games in the UConn Invite Saturday morning September 2nd, where they will face off against Hofstra University in Storrs.
