How It Happened
Another thriller in North Andover. Hammel Court continues to be the host for great games. The first set started with a 4 point cushion for CCSU. Merrimack quickly tied it before the two teams duked it out for the remainder of the set. The Warriors fell behind late, 22-19 but a 4 point barrage put them ahead by one. CCSU would go on to score 4 of the final 5 points and coming away with a 26-24 set one win.

The second set was once again an absolute battle. Merrimack kicked off scoring with a Marilyn Whitcavitch kill. MC had a 5 point run to put them ahead midway through the set that ultimately would push them to a second set win and knotting things up at one a piece going into a pivotal 3rd set.

Shocker, the third set was a dog fight. These two teams were going back and forth all match. This set was headlined by its runs. CCSU had a point and multiple three point runs and Merrimack with two 4 point runs. The Warriors finished off the Blue Devils by scoring 3 of the final 4 points and taking a commanding two sets to one lead.

The fourth set was not entirely close. The Blue Devils scored first and just kept it rolling. A mid set 15-4 run capped off a 25-13 victory and sent the match into a decisive fifth set.

The fifth and final set of a volleyball match is always entertaining and this one was no different. A Hannah Webber kill ignited the Warriors, starting what would become a 6-3 lead. However, a 8 point surge from Central Connecticut State put the Warriors leads in the rear view mirror as they took an 11-6 lead. A pair of Cate Wright kills would not be enough to complete the Warrior comeback as CCSU secured the win sending Merrimack to 2-1 in conference play.
