FAIRFIELD, CONN. – After being down for the majority of the game, the Merrimack College football team scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to beat Sacred Heart University on Saturday afternoon.
Donovan Wadley had 102 rushing yards and a late touchdown to lead the Warriors on the offensive side of the ball.
Kendal Sims led Merrimack with 10 tackles. Both
Darion McKenzie and
Tre Jordan III had interceptions in the victory.

Punts for both teams started off the game on offense. On the Warriors second possession of the game,
Gavin McCusker fumbled after being sacked. The ball was returned for a Pioneer touchdown, giving them a first quarter lead. Merrimack would get some points back on their next possession.
Lliam Davis would knock down a 26-yard field goal to make the score 7-3. The score would stay the same until the fourth quarter.
Sacred Heart would take the ball over with just under 13 minutes to play in the fourth quarter. On the second play from scrimmage, Jordan III would jump the pass and intercept the Pioneer quarterback. He would take it 35-yards for his first pick six of the season. Merrimack was now up 10-7. A punt by Sacred Heart, followed by a punt by Merrimack would be the next two offensive possessions. The Warriors would make the Pioneers punt one more time before taking over on offense again. With just over seven minutes to go in the game, Wadley found a hole and took it 45-yards to the end zone, putting Merrimack up by 10. Sacred Heart would do its best to get back in the game, but could not score on a stout Warrior defense.
