Burlington, VT-- The Merrimack College women's ice hockey team survived a late charge by the Vermont Catamounts to capture win number one of the 2024-25 season winning by a score of 3-2 on Saturday night
Merrimack (1-2-0, 0-1-0): 3, Vermont (0-3-0, 0-1-0): 2
The first period ended scoreless with both team's having chances on both ends, and the Warriors successfully killed off two penalties.

In the second, the Warriors struck first early on, as
Sage Babey scored her first Warriors goal just past the five minute mark, the Warriors would double their advantage with four minutes left as
Madison Cardaci's shot would be tipped home by
Rachel Bjorgan, to take a two goal lead into the final period.

In the third,
Chloe Goofers would join the party with her first goal of the season. Vermont would break the shutout and cut the lead to one with 90 seconds to go but the Warriors would hang on from their to take the win.
