Orono, ME.-- The Merrimack College men's ice hockey team were swept by the Maine Black Bears, falling by a score of 6-0 on Saturday night at the Alfond Arena.
Merrimack (1-5-1, 0-3-1): 0, Maine (6-0-1, 3-0-1): 6
Maine scored the game's opening goal only 17 seconds into the game, and they would add a second in the final 30 seconds of the first period.
The Black Bears would score twice in 15 seconds to extend the lead to four early in the second period, before adding another two, both on the powerplay, extending the lead to six.
In the third period,
Ryan Keyes would enter the game in relief of Nils Wallstrom and he would make 12 saves to close the contest.
Notes and Numbers:
- Josef Mysak led the team in blocks with six.
- Max Wattvil led the way in shots on goal with three.
- Nils Wallstrom made 22 saves, Ryan Keyes made 12 saves in relief.
