Football Concludes Season With Convincing Victory Over Fordham

Bronx, N.Y, – The Merrimack College football team concluded its season with a victory over Fordham University on Saturday, 19-3.

How It Happened

• Tre Jordan III grabbed an interception on the first offensive play of the game for the Rams. After a Merrimack turnover, Fordham took the ball back. Kendal Sims blocked a punt that went out the back of the end zone, giving the Warriors a two-point lead. On the following offensive possession, Jermaine Corbett found the end zone for his only time of the game to put Merrimack up nine. Back-to-back punts ended the first quarter. With five minutes to go in the first half, the Rams added a field goal to cut the lead down to six. Punts were a common theme for the rest of the first half, Merrimack headed into the locker room up by six points.
• Two punts started the second half. On their next offensive possession, Merrimack scored their second touchdown of the game. This time it was a 12-yard pass from Ayden Pereira to Jalen McDonald. The Warriors went up by 13. With nine minutes to play in the game, Lliam Davis knocked down a 21-yard field goal to increase the lead to 16. The Rams would not score the rest of the game, losing by 16 points.

Notes & Numbers

• Jay Thompson finished the game with seven tackles and a career-high four sacks. Nicholas Lenon also added two sacks. Lenon also forced a fumble.
• Deon Houston also had an interception in the victory.
• Pereira led the team in rushing with 136 yards. He also threw for 131 yards and a touchdown.
