The calling card for this Merrimack team has been their defense up to this point in the year. However, in this one it would be the offense that carried the load. Both teams we're on fire from the field to start the game as Merrimack took a six-point lead after the first quarter scoring 20 points in the frame. In the second quarter the Warriors added to their lead going up by as much as 13 before the Highlanders we're able to cut it down to just six. After the mini run from NJIT, the Warriors would respond with numerous scores and ending the half on a buzzer beating Mia Fiore jumper to go up by double digits once again, 48-35.
