CHARLESTON, SC – The Merrimack College Baseball team lost in dramatic fashion on day two of the Swig & Swine College Classic.
Score: Merrimack 1, Ball State 2
Records: Merrimack (0-2, 0-0), Ball State (2-1, 0-0)
Rapid Recap
It was a day to remember on the mound for freshman RHP
Andrew Heffernan. In his collegiate debut he went four and a third giving up just one earned run on three hits and had four strikeouts. Merrimack's defense was on full display as
Braydon Dolbashian made a handful of plays at first base to help halt any scoring plays for Ball State. It wasn't until the fifth inning when the Warriors broke the seal as Sam Sherman tripled to drive in
Jacob Albert for the lone Warrior run of the ball game. Ball State would score a run to knot it up in their half of the fifth inning. We were at standstill up until the ninth inning when
Louis Cespedes came in to pitch for the Warriors. Ball State was able to get a runner into scoring position and quickly were able to drive him in sending Merrimack to 0-2 with the walk off loss.
