North Andover, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's lacrosse team lost to the University of Vermont this afternoon in a low scoring battle.

Score: Merrimack 6, Vermont 10

Things were close in the 1
st quarter as the game would see Merrimack strike first in under a minute to take an early lead. From there, both teams had trouble controlling the ball as Vermont would commit 6 turnovers, Merrimack 5. At the end of the first, the game would be all tied up 1-1. The Warriors would take control of the game in the 2
nd.
Samantha Spieler would put Merrimack up 2-1 within the first 34 seconds of the quarter.
Sophie Scearbo would put up a first half hat trick, scoring her third goal to put the Warriors up 6-1. The Catamounts were shut down, only scoring one goal while allowing 5 unanswered. The score entering the half would be 6-2 in favor of Merrimack.
The 2
nd half would be a different story. Vermont came out a changed team and completely crushed the Warriors attack we saw in the 2
nd quarter. The Catamounts would score with 10 minutes left in the 3
rd and never turn back. Merrimack would allow 5 straight goals and would be down 7-6 with only the 4
th quarter left to play. Vermont would continue to control the pace of the game for the last 15 minutes. The Warriors would not see the back of the net for the remainder of the game. The Catamounts would tally on another 3 goals and Merrimack would lose to Vermont by a score of 10-6.
