Rapid Recap
If you wanted fireworks to end a series, you surely got some in this one. Merrimack opened up the scoring in the first inning by putting up three runs headlined by a
Christian Gemelli triple. The Bald Eagles would score a run in the 2nd and two more in the third to tie the ball game up at 3. They would add one more run making it 4-3 in the fourth before an eruption of offense from the Warriors. A six run fifth inning that started with a Ferrentino double and finished off with a
Christian Scanlon RBI single, made it 9-4 MC. Merrimack would not be able to hold the advantage for long as Coppin State scored two runs in the 6th and four more in the 7th to give them a one run lead at 10-9. Merrimack would retake the lead after a bomb from who else but
Frankie Ferrentino. CSU would once again get another run on the board in the 8th setting up for another dramatic finish in the ninth. With no runs from the Warriors,
Dawson Logie was tasked with pushing it into extras. He would do just that and more. In extras, the Warriors offense would explode again going for five runs before they were retired. Logie came back in to shut it down as he did in the ninth, earning the win 16-11 and avoiding the series sweep.
