Boston, M.A.— The Merrimack College Warriors Hockey team came to a close in the opening round of the Hockey East Tournament, falling by a score of 4-0 on Wednesday night at Matthews Arena.
The Basics
Merrimack (13-21-1, 6-17-1): 0, Northeastern (17-15-3, 9-14-1): 4
Northeastern scored early, grabbing the opening tally at 3:15 of the first period. Merrimack would come close to tying the game hitting the post twice on the powerplay but were unable to tie the score before the end of the first despite holding a 10-7 shot advantage.
In the second, Northeastern would double the lead just past the midway point of the second and add a third with 3:32 to play.
In the third, the Huskies would score an empty net goal to close the season for the Warriors.
