Baseball Drops Game Two of Series with Sacred Heart

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Merrimack College Baseball team was unable to get in the win column on Saturday afternoon against Sacred Heart University, losing the game 4-1.

Rapid Recap
In the top of the first Cavan Brady doubled but was left on first. Warriors starter James Borsari hurled three perfect innings to start the game, getting the Pioneers in order all three times. In the top of the fourth, Frankie Ferrentino singled with no outs. He was left on first. In the bottom half of the fourth inning Sacred Heart scored two runs on two hits to take their first lead of the game. In the bottom of the following inning, the Pioneers added another run to go up three. Hayden Bond opened the top of the sixth with a single to left. Brady drew a walk to advance Bond to second. Both runners then advanced a base on a wild pitch. Ferrentino then singled to get Merrimack on the board. The Warriors then went down in order. In the bottom of the seventh, the Pioneers added another run to go back up by three. Merrimack got one runner on in the top of the ninth, but it was not enough to beat Sacred Heart on Saturday afternoon.
 
Notes and Numbers
Both Bond and Ferrentino finished the game with two hits.
Colby Barker only needed five pitches to get out of his one inning of work.
Borsari picked up his second loss of the season.

Merrimack will play the final game of the series against Sacred Heart on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
