Rapid Recap
Merrimack was coming off a heartbreaking loss to Wagner College earlier in the week. The Warriors started where they left off their last game, allowing the first three goals of the match. They would wake up halfway through the quarter with a
Lindsay Atkinson free-position goal. The Warriors responded to the hot Saint Francis start and finished out the quarter tied 3-3. Merrimack came out flat to start the second quarter. They conceded the opening draw control allowing the Red Flash to score. Turnovers would prove costly, as the next three Saint Francis goals all came off Merrimack turnovers. The Warriors were shut out in the 2
nd quarter facing an 8-3 deficit heading into the final two quarters of play.
The girls came out more inspired to start the 3
rd quarter. While turnovers were an issue to start, Merrimack was able to clean up their attack and go on a 3-1 run, which started with an
Allison Lamphere goal, to get back within striking distance. Saint Francis would call a timeout right after the Warriors made the game 9-6 to collect themselves. The Red Flash scored the last two goals of the quarter to extend their lead and be up 11-6. Defensively, Merrimack could not stop Saint Francis, who scored 5 unanswered goals to start the 4th. Merrimack wouldn't get on the board till a minute left in the quarter and would ultimately fall to Saint Francis 17-7.
