ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack College Baseball team took care of business in a Friday double header as they went on to have two dominant wins over NEC opponent Maryland Eastern Shore. Game one was headlined by seven hitless innings from
Andrew Heffernan followed up with
Louis Cespedes closing it out for the no hitter.

Bad weather in the forecast for the weekend forced a double header on Friday as the Warriors hosted UMES. In the first inning of the first game
Frankie Ferrentino knocked in the first of what would be more than a handful of runs for Merrimack.
Jacob Albert would have a two RBI single to make it 3-0 in the first inning. In the second inning the Warriors added two more off the bats of
Frankie Ferrentino and
Dawson Bryce. The Hawks would score their lone run off of an infield error in the fourth.
Christian Scanlon would add on in the fourth with a homerun and he would go on to hit another in the fifth. Merrimack would secure an 18-1 lead through six innings all the while
Andrew Heffernan was DEALING on the mound. The freshman righty would strike out four batters through seven innings of hitless baseball. He only allowed one runner to cross home plate and it would be unearned. He would be relieved after seven innings of work by
Louis Cespedes who would be shut down for his two innings of work to secure the combined no hitter for the Warriors blow out 20-1 win.
In the second game the Warriors continued their offensive excellence as they started the party early. They would score the first run by executing the first and third double steal to perfection as
Hayden Bond came across to score. Merrimack scored just one in the first but that would be just an appetizer to what was to come in the second inning. In the second inning the Christians, Gemelli and Scanlon, hit in the first three RBI's of the inning.
Dawson Bryce,
Alex Haba, and
Braydon Dolbashian would follow their teammates as they were each able to drive in a run. The score now sat at 7-0 but the Warriors were not done as
Cavan Brady would single to cap off the seven run second inning for the Warriors. Merrimack would maintain their eight run lead with a third run bomb from
Christian Gemelli to respond to two runs from UMES. Ferrentino and Haba would hammer in two more runs in the fifth as the Warriors would score thirty one runs and have 34 hits through the Friday double header winning game two,11-3.
