Rapid Recap
Merrimack was looking for a win that would secure the fourth spot in the NEC tournament and lead them to host CCSU in round one. The Warriors had already put a beatdown on Wagner back in January to open up conference play with a 72-45 win. However this game was nothing like the first matchup. The Warriors had the lead to start but fell flat on both ends of the floor. They would let up 19 points in the first quarter, only scoring 10 themselves. They would keep it around the same distance for the entirety of the second quarter as the offense was able to get it going. It would be a mix of lackluster defense and some hot shooting from the Seahawks that made the halftime score 41-29 in favor of the visitor.
In the third quarter the lead for the Seahawks would grow even further. Wagner would trounce on the Warriors scoring bucket after bucket as the chance of a potential comeback looked slim. The Seahawks would go up as much as 24 points and ultimately left the third quarter with a 65-44 advantage. Wagner would add to their lead ever further in the fourth quarter, pushing it to 26 points early on. Merrimack applied a full court press, speeding up the Wagner offense and started to force some turnovers leading to easy scores. Somehow the Wagner attack was still able to maintain their large lead throughout. It wasn't until the final couple minutes that the Warriors were really able to cut into the deficit. Merrimack would end up losing their third straight, 79-65.
