HANOVER, NH – The Merrimack College Baseball team was able to gather a victory in their final midweek game of the season over Dartmouth.
Score: Merrimack 7, Dartmouth 6
Records: Merrimack (22-23), Dartmouth (11-24)
Rapid Recap
Merrimack was looking to end their 2024 midweek schedule with a win under their belt. This would be the first meeting between the two programs.
Flynn Howard started on the mound and was shut down two innings of work.
Casey Hegan would relieve him and do the exact same going two more innings of scoreless baseball. Merrimack would not strike from behind the plate until the fourth inning when they went nuclear, putting up six runs to take a commanding lead. After that the bats went silent and Dartmouth snuck back into the game scoring the next six runs to tie it up in the bottom of the 8th inning. No scoring from either side in the ninth, due in large part to some great defensive plays from
Matthew Chatelle and
Jack Collins, led us to extra innings. In extras
Braydon Dolbashian hit a towering drive over the left field fence that was a no doubter. That's all Merrimack would need with
Jack Collins closing it out in the 10th to grab the win.
