Score: Merrimack 6, Stonehill 4
Records: Merrimack (30-24, 22-11), Stonehill (18-29, 14-16)
Rapid Recap
Scoring enormous amounts of runs have been the staple especially at home field for Merrimack. This game would be a lot different than the others before it. Stonehill would score a run right away in the top of the first but it would take no time for the Warriors to take that back and more.
Christian Gemelli would smoke a leadoff homer to even it at one.
Braydon Dolbashian would reach on an error and
Alex Haba would come across. A
Matthew Chatelle sac fly would score one more run to hold a 3-1 lead after the first inning. After that the pitching would hold it down for the Warriors as
Brayden Ryan went one more inning before
Flynn Howard took over. Howard would pitch into the fourth inning giving up just one hit. In the fourth
Matthew Chatelle provided some insurance with a solo blast.
Christian Gemelli would follow it up with an RBI single soon thereafter. A passed ball in the fifth inning allowed another Merrimack run as it was 6-1. Everything looked great and in control for the Warriors until a three run sixth inning for the Skyhawks. At that point freshman
Cole Yennaco took the mound for his first career pitching appearance. The righty was a natural, pitching for contact and getting out after out. He would go 2.2 innings pitched giving up zero hits.
Michael Dragon would come in to complete the sweep on his senior day and picked up his second save of the year while doing it.
