Rapid Recap
The story for Merrimack so far has been to survive and advance after losing their opener at the NEC Championship. They have done just that and nothing would change today. Freshman Campbell Cassidy, who has been a star down the stretch, started on the mound for Merrimack. He was able to provide his longest outing of the season going 5.1 innings pitched giving up just two runs while striking out four batters. He was given some help from his offensive counterparts at the plate. The Warriors would score in the first inning with a Frankie Ferrentino RBI single. In the second inning Christian Gemelli would wrap a ball down the right field line that careened off the foul pole for a two run homer. Cassidy would get even more help after a fourth inning nuclear blast from Chris Goode to make it 4-1. Cole Yennaco would replace Cassidy in the sixth in just his second collegiate appearance on the mound. He would dice up batters, pitching 2.2 with one earned and three strikeouts. While he was on the mound Merrimack would score twice more to make it 6-2. Wagner was able to tack on one in the 8th but Casey Hegan would come in and close it out in the ninth to win it 6-3.
