Rapid Recap
Merrimack was looking to snag their third consecutive NEC series win. The man they call Soup was on the mound as freshman southpaw, Campbell Cassidy, was spot on inning and two thirds of work. He would have a ton of help after shutting it down in the first inning as the bases got loaded up and Matthew Chatelle stepped to the plate and he would take the ball for quite a ride. The grand slam would add to an already established one run lead to make it 5-0. LIU would score in the second but the flood gates we're open with Christian Gemelli and Dawson Bryce each sent in a run. Frankie Ferrentino would join in on the fun as he hit a two run home run to make it 9-1 Warriors through two innings. The Merrimack offense did slow down for the next three innings of play and the Sharks would score four unanswered to make it a bit more snug at 9-5. In the sixth, Merrimack would find it again. The bases became loaded for the second time in the game and Chatelle was pegged by a pitch that scored a run. Cavan Brady would then single in a pair of runs. The bases would get full once again as the leadoff man Christian Gemelli came to the dish. Gemelli would smoke one over the fence for the second Warriors grand slam of the afternoon and more importantly build up what would be a 16-5 lead. LIU would score a few times down the stretch but the lead Merrimack had built was insurmountable. The Warriors would take game two and the series win 16-9.
