NORTH ANDOVER, MASS - The Merrimack College Dance Team attended the National Dance Alliance camp this past weekend on the campus of the University of Massachusetts in preparation for the 2024-2025 season to compete for a bid to College Nationals in April 2025.
The team competed in both the Game Day and Team Performance divisions in addition to being evaluated by staff and accumulating points during technique classes, choreography sessions and team building exercises. Merrimack Dance was voted "Most Collegiate" by camp staff based on their school spirit, professionalism, sportsmanship, leadership, integrity and overall execution of camp material. The team also claimed the title of "Best All Around Team", earning the most cumulative points throughout the weekend and securing a Gold Paid Bid to Nationals in Daytona Beach.
The weekend wrapped up with three athletes being recognized as All-Americans, including senior captain
Ava Mazzotta, junior captain
Amelia Howell, and sophomore
Sophie Smith. Junior
Mia DiLullo and freshman
Reaghan Brady both took first place in the Top Gun Turns and Leaps/Jumps competitions.
The Merrimack College Dance Team attended camp alongside a mix of NCAA D1, D2 and D3 schools, including Northeastern University, Providence College, University of Massachusetts Lowell, Fairfield University, Army West Point, Loyola University Maryland and the University of Maine.
