Rapid Recap
The first and second periods showed far more defense than offense as most of the first half was played near the midline as both teams traded attacking attempts with nothing coming to fruition. It wouldn't be until the 37 minute mark that the tie would be broken. The Pioneers would finally get one to go in the third period on goalkeeper Isabelle Gardiner to take a 1-0 lead. Merrimack would have a handful of great chances but it would ultimately be Emily Beichert with the equalizer late in the fourth with just under six minutes left to play. Neither team broke the 1-1 stalemate in the final five minutes of regulation and we would head to overtime. In overtime neither team would be able to score leading us into a second overtime. A similar story to the first as both team's we're unable to net one. The Warriors would now head into a shootout looking to grasp their first win of the year. After three straight successful shootout attempts from Sacred Heart, Merrimack found their backs against the walls. Julie Wester would have a chance to extend the shootout but it would be no good.
