Football Downed By UConn

East Hartford, Conn. – The Merrimack College football team fell to the University of Connecticut on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

• The Huskies struck first two minutes into the game with their first score of the quarter. UConn then added a score four minutes later to go up by 14. The Huskies got the ball back after a Warrior punt. It took UConn just a few plays to add their third score of the quarter. After another Merrimack turnover on downs, the Huskies added their fourth touchdown of the quarter. The Warriors finally broke through into the endzone on a 46-yard run from Jermaine Corbett, putting Merrimack down three scores. The first quarter ended with a 60-yard throw and catch for UConn, putting them back up by 28.
• The Warriors were forced to punt on their first offensive possession of the second quarter. Two minutes into the second stanza the Huskies found the endzone for their sixth time of the game. UConn would add two more touchdowns in the second quarter to head into the locker room up by 49.
• The third quarter saw just one touchdown for UConn. The Warrior defense had a stop and missed field goal attempt from the Huskies in the quarter. In the fourth, Justin Lewis found Seth Sweitzer for a 71-yard touchdown pass. The touchdown was the first of Lewis's career. Lliam Davis added a 32-yard field goal for Merrimack as time expired.

• Corbett rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on 14 attempts.
• Danny Simms led the team in tackles with six.
• Sweitzer led the Warriors in receiving with 77 yards on two catches.
