Men's Hockey Downed by Massachusetts

Amherst, MA.-- The Merrimack College men's ice hockey team couldn't complete the sweep of the UMass Minutemen as they fell by a score of 5-2 on Saturday night at the Mullins Center.
 
 
Merrimack (9-12-1, 5-7-1): 2, UMass (11-10-2, 4-7-1): 5
 
In the first period, UMass scored twice in the final six minutes, with the first goal squeaking through and the second a redirected shot on the powerplay. 
 
In the second, UMass added the third of the evening with their second powerplay goal of the night.
 
UMass scored their fourth goal of the evening with their third powerplay strike of the night. Tyler Young netted a consolation goal in the final ten minutes of the third as he fired in the shot off the faceoff. Young recorded his second of the game and third of the weekend with the goalie pulled in the final three minutes, but the Minutemen would close the contest with a empty netter in the final ten seconds
 
Notes and Numbers:
·        Tyler Young scored his third goal in two games, and reached six goals this season.
·       Ethan Bono collected the lone assist.
·       Max Lundgren made 26 saves.
 
UP NEXT: The Warriors return home as they host Dolla' Dog night against the Brown University Bears on Tuesday night. Puck drop is set for 7 PM.
