How It Happened

Looking to stay hot in conference, the Warriors found themselves in a heated battle for an early lead. The back-and-forth set continued with multiple different Warriors helped contribute kills. Sloppy play from both teams made it tough to gain a sizeable lead. The Bobcats attempted to increase the lead late in the first set but kills from Aubrey Baker and assists from Lilly Konrad made it difficult. The Bobcats took advantage of attack errors from the Warriors in the end to take the first set.

After a close first set, the Warriors looked to turn the tables. A couple kills from Mckenna Shotwell were enough to give them a 3-1 lead. After a quick rally the Bobcats found themselves right back into the game with Merrimack. In a 5-5 tie, Morgan Thurlow scorched the Bobcat attack. A kill and three straight blocks from Thurlow helped the Warriors regain the lead, which was the largest of the day. The Bobcats fired back with vengeance, going on a 6-0 run to stun the Warriors. The Warriors traded blows with the opposition, but it wasn't enough as the Bobcats increased the small lead they had. A late Warrior effort, led by Marissa Kobelski, was too late as the Bobcats won in a tight second set.

It was time to lock in for the Warriors as they found themselves with their backs against the wall. Morgan Thurlow added yet another block to collection, giving the Warriors the lead. A few Bobcat services aces opened the door for them to take a commanding lead going into the second half of the set. The Bobcat lead was quickly decimated as Shotwell fired three straight kills. The streaky match continued with the Bobcats going on a 5-0 run. The Warriors then responded with their own 5-0 run, courtesy of Ella Gizmunt who tallied three kills in that time. Kobelski added onto the lead with two service aces to keep the Bobcats away. A badly timed 5-0 run from the Bobcat offense allowed them to retake the lead and they never looked back.
