Women's Soccer Stumped by Niagara

North Andover, Ma.   The Merrimack College women's soccer team dropped their midweek conference match with the Niagara Purple Eagles by a score of 2-1 on a chilly and windy, but sunny day at Martone-Mejail Field.

Merrimack: 1, Niagara: 2

Merrimack (4-9-2, 3-6-0), Niagara (6-6-1, 3-5-1)
The Warriors took the lead early as they applied pressure and Daniela Almeida found wide open space in the penalty area and slotted the ball home for the opening goal in the opening five minutes.

Niagara would claw the game even with seven minutes left in the half on a long shot that snuck inside the bottom right corner and would take the lead less than a minute later on a free kick with some assist from the wind.

In the second half, Merrimack kept the chances to the outside and Addison Israel made three saves, but Merrimack's chances were turned away and were unable to put the ball in the net before the clock hit triple zeros.

Notes and Numbers:
  • Ava Lovergine had the lone assist.
  • Addison Israel made six saves.

UP NEXT: The Warriors start their final road trip of the season with a match in Jersey City on Saturday, October 18th at noon against the Saint Peter's Peacocks.
