NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Jack Richard scored his first goal of the season for the Merrimack College men's hockey team in a non-conference game on Saturday night at Lawler Arena.
Merrimack (3-2-0, 2-1-0): 2, Long Island (1-5-0): 5
In the first period, the Warriors would pepper the Long Island goaltender with 20 shots but the game would remain scoreless through the opening 20 minutes.
In the second, the Sharks stunned Merrimack with two quick goals, including one on the powerplay, but Merrimack rallied back scoring twice in 100 seconds.
Caden Cranston caused the turnover and
Justin Gill's ensuing pass would be put home with no hesitation by
Parker Lalonde. The game would be then tied by Richard's shot which went top corner. Things remained level heading into the final regulation period.
In the third period, Long Island would score on the powerplay and add two empty netters.
