STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Ernest Shelton had his second-straight 20-point game, making three 3-pointers, but the Merrimack men's basketball team lost at Tarleton State 76-62 on Tuesday night.

Shelton followed up his 23-point performance at No. 20 Auburn with 20 points against the Texas. The Philadelphia native has now made eight three-pointers in the last two games. Twice on Tuesday night, he made a three-pointer, and was fouled. Freshman Kevair Kennedy scored a career-high 12 points, had seven rebounds and two steals. Aliou Cisse had seven points, including a thunderous dunk, and five rebounds. Malik Edmead also had seven points on 3-of-5 shooting.

The Warriors trailed by one (32-31) with under a minute to play in the first half, and were down by two (37-35) with 16:38 to play in the game.

This was Merrimack's third-straight game in the Central Time Zone to start the season. The Warriors have one more road trip before the home opener next Wednesday vs. Maine. On Saturday, Merrimack makes the short trip to Boston University for a 1 p.m. tip.
