Buffalo, N.Y., Niagara Falls, NY – The Merrimack College Women's volleyball team is set to finish their regular season in New York this weekend. The Warriors will take on the Griffs of Canisius University Friday, and then face the Purple Eagles of Niagara in their season finale. The Warriors are currently riding their longest win streak as a division 1 program.
Following a historic reverse sweep in early October to beat the Griffs, the Warriors set their eyes on the season sweep this Friday. It was sophomore pin hitter
Aubrey Baker who exploded for a 20-kill performance last month to help the Warriors to their homecoming victory.
Sophia DeBonis and
Lilly Konrad combined for 56 assists in the matchup and
Mckenna Shotwell finished just shy of a double-double with 9 kills and 20 digs.
Ella Maldonado led the way defensively with a career high 25 digs.
That same weekend, the Warriors faced Niagara and saw double digit kill totals from three players. Outside hitter Shotwell posted a team leading 14 kills and a career high 25 digs on the day. Junior
Ella Gizmunt excelled in the contest putting up a career high 12 kills. Setters DeBonis and Konrad both had double-doubles on the day by way of assists and digs.
After their fourth straight victory, setting a program high, the Warriors look to keep raising the bar. The Warriors will turn to
Morgan Thurlow, who posted a season high 13 kills in the marathon match against Saint Peter's last Saturday. She also totaled 9 block assists in the successful weekend. The Warriors will also look to
Mckenna Shotwell to stay hot as she set her career high in kills last Saturday.
