NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Junior
Madison Roman had her second-straight double-double with a career-high 26 points and sophomore
Mia Fiore had a career-high 24 points, but undefeated Bryant came back to win 80-73 Wednesday night at Lawler Arena.
Roman made 9-of-15 field goals for her career-high 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her eighth career double-double. Fiore made 10-of-14 field goals and 2-of-4 three-pointers.
The Warriors led by as many as 11 early in the third quarter, but the Bulldogs (5-0) came back to take the lead to start the fourth quarter.
A basket by Fiore pulled the Warriors within three with 1:27 left, but Bryant's Nia Scott (18 points) finished an old fashioned three-point play in the final minute to secure the win.
"You hate those that are winnable at home. I felt like we were in control for a lot of the game, and for a very short handful of minutes, we just lost that control," Merrimack head coach
Kelly Morrone said. "Our start was excellent, our defense was excellent in the beginning, we were controlling the pace of the game. Overall, I was pleased with a lot of the basketball that we played."
Freshman
Joi Williams had seven points and senior
Lydia Melaschenko added five points.
Merrimack returns to action Tuesday at Boston College at 11 a.m.
