Warriors Open Season at Home Against Beacons

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College Women's Basketball team is back for the 2025-26 season. This Tuesday the Warriors open up their season against the Beacons of UMass Boston.  
 
Junior Madison Roman was named to the MAAC Preseason all-conference second team, after averaging 8.7 pts and 8.7 rebounds per game last season. Roman led the team in rebounds and assists during the 2024-25 season as well. She finished 2nd in the MAAC in total defensive rebounds with 269. Three point sharp-shooter Lydia Melaschenko is back in action for the Warriors. Last year she led the team in three pointers (48) and percentage from beyond the arc (.356). Melachenko finished 7th in the conference in 3-point percentage. The Warriors excelled in the MAAC postseason in 2025 defeating #3 ranked Siena in the Quarterfinals to reach the Semifinals in their inaugural season in the league.
