NORTH ANDOVER, MA -Â Highlighted by a career night from grad student Andres Marrero, the Merrimack College men's basketball team were victorious 68-66 in their MAAC opener Thursday.Â
Marrero led the way for the Warriors with a career high 23 points. Marrero shot 9-of-14 from the field and hit four 3-pointers.

"We made some big shots, late in the shot clock," Merrimack head coach
Joe Gallo said. "Kev plays like he's played 100 college basketball games. Dre has played 100 college basketball games. We're really close to being a really, really good team. It's four or five possessions, on both sides of the ball, and we can really take the next jump."

Freshman
Kevair Kennedy played all 40 minutes, scoring 19 points for his eighth-straight game in double figures. Kennedy also had three rebounds three assists and three steals.
Sophomore
Tye Dorset had one of his best performances of the season, scoring 15 points, including a clutch 3-pointer with 2:24 left to put Merrimack up 65-60. Marrero followed with his fourth trey of the game to give the Warriors and eight point lead with 1:20 remaining.
Junior
Todd Brogna had five points and a season-high seven rebounds and three blocks.

The Warriors aren't going anywhere as they welcome the Stags of Fairfield this Sunday. Tip off from Lawler Arena is set for 1 pm.
