North Andover, MA-- Merrimack plays their only two games in the month in December this weekend as they face Providence after collecting a 4-1 win over Assumption last Sunday. The Warriors will also host a Teddy Bear Toss game on Saturday afternoon.
Junior forward
Emma Pfeffer picked up two assists in the win over Assumption to keep her lead a top of the Warriors scoring charts as she has 11 points in 16 games (five goals, six assists) Emma also continues to hold steady a top the entire NCAA in powerplay goals with those five goals.
Senior
Avery Anderson also notched two assists in the win over Assumption and in the process, re-took the lead in assists with eight. Avery has a total of 10 points in 16 games played so far this season.
Neely Hawn was the third and final Warrior to have a multi point game against Assumption on Sunday, as she had a secondary assist on the game winning goal by
Olivia Grabianowski and scored the game's final goal and her second of the season late in the third period.
Merrimack enters this weekend with the ranked second in shooting percentage in the conference, hitting the back of the net an even 9.0% of the time. 16 players have scored at least once, with aforementioned
Emma Pfeffer leading the way with five.
Merrimack sits in first place of Hockey East teams and tenth overall in the nation in blocked shots so far this season with 259 in 16 games. Â
Maggie Kime sits atop the list with 35 while
Maddie Crowley-Cahill,
Emma Pfeffer,
Stina Sandberg,
Kerttu Lehmus and
Solveig Gisler have 20 or more. Eleven players total have block numbers in the double digits.
