Second-Half Comeback Propels UNH Over Warriors

DURHAM, NH – Sophomore Mia Fiore just missed a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds, but the Merrimack women's basketball team lost to New Hampshire 65-61 Friday.

Fiore made seven fields as she scored in double figures for the seventh-straight game.

Senior Lydia Melaschenko had 13 points, making four 3-pointers and Grad student Oralye Keifer added 12 points.

Merrimack led 33-25 at the half and 51-48 after three quarters, but New Hampshire took its first lead of the game with 4:49 left on a bucket by Eva DeChent, who led the Wildcats with a game-high 26 points.

"Tough one to lose on the road when we led the whole way," Merrimack head coach Kelly Morrone said. "We just couldn't get the stops when we needed to close it out. We'll learn from this and get better."

The Warriors travel to Providence to face Brown on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the final tune-up before MAAC play begins Dec. 21 at Fairfield.
